New Podcast Episode: Mourning Doves

Hey, everyone! I have a new podcast episode up and running! You can find it here:

This week’s episode is about family, and what it means to write poetry. My grandfather was a prominent example of love and storytelling in my life. What is the true, essential power of poetry and love in our lives? How do storytelling and immediacy intertwine with that?

Note: This episode’s cover photo is an old photograph of my grandfather being his most silly self. He is wearing a wig. That is not his real hair.

New Poem: “Zyprexa: Generic being, Olanzapine”

(Text reads):

I want you to look

at the jagged glass

Keep your focus

on your wayward eyes

Now follow the heart-

beat in your throat

Quiet that factory

of thought

Exhale all smoke-

ish

Inhale all chemical-

like

You have lived

so unbalanced

But hey, here you

are, kind, and sleepy

and smiling

So,

 so,

sincerely

Rogue Fest 2022 – #FresnoWritersLive

Here I am, reading at Rogue Fest 2022 on March 5th at Goldstein’s in Fresno. This was part of #FresnoWritersLive with the support of the Fresno State Creative Writing MFA program and CWAA. I read with three amazing poets, Aidan, Shelby, and Ceci, who are my fellow CWAA members. This video is of my portion of the reading. Thank you to everyone who made this possible, and to my familia who made it out to see me!

A New Poem & A New Page

I recently had the absolute pleasure and honor to be a reader at Lit Hop Fresno 2021! The theme for my group was “Writing The Domestic” or “Women’s Work.” I composed 3 poems, specifically for the event, and read an oldie but a goodie from Moon Ride (“It’s A Girl”). Thinking about the theme of domesticity and the tediousness of women’s work naturally led to me writing a poem about an android woman refusing to do work. Here is the visual representation of that poem!

I also want to let you know that I have a new area on my page where I list all of my previous publications. It’s under “Work.” (You can click that right there!)

One last thing! A reminder to follow me on my socials, if you please:
